A flu vaccine injection received on an annual basis will not totally eliminate the chances of getting the flu but will greatly reduce the chances of getting sick with the flu. Flu vaccines are determined before widespread outbreak occurs. The strains of flu virus for each given year are closely monitored and new flu vaccine is prepared each year depending on the most active strains of virus going around. Sometime Mother Nature throws a curve ball with a late developing flu strain that come along after this year’s vaccine has already been prepared.

It has been said that if every person on the planet received the flu vaccine for five consecutive years it is feasible that the flu could be wiped out. While not an impossible task, it is a highly unlikely one to occur since many people who have free flu vaccine available to them will not take it. This is in part due to believing some story they heard from a friend of a friend such as the vaccine being dangerous or causing the flu. The flu vaccine would only be dangerous for someone already allergic to eggs or the preservative used in manufacturing the vaccine, and it is impossible to acquire the flu from the dead flu viruses used in vaccines.

When people say they caught the flu after taking a flu vaccine what has actually occurred is that the person either caught another strain of flu, was already sick with the flu before being vaccinated, does not have the flu but has a bad cold instead or has felt a few symptoms due to his immune system building up resistance to the disease. A vaccine causes the body’s own immune system to build up protection against the virus without actually having to get sick first. Real flu has horrible symptoms that can kill. A mild body ache or a slight fever are not the flu and enduring a day or so of very mild symptoms to gain protection from the real flu is highly preferred over actually acquiring any flu illness.

Just what is a Baby Boomer? It is a term that is used for a person who was born between 1946 and 1964 so today this term is typically applied to anyone between the age of 44 and 63 years of age. Of the U.S. population, these Baby Boomers make up almost 28% of it. Senior citizen, is another name for this group of people.
We all know that it is the older people who are seen with syndromes and sicknesses and seem prone to disease. Baby Boomers will soon be having a huge impact on the health care industry. As this group in our population ages, they are generally more susceptible to disability problems and having mobility problems which can strain the government finances along with the facilities of health care. For those who choose to live alone to maintain their Independence, it leave family members with worries about their well being.
Today there is a great service that is an emergency response system that can take the worry away of leaving your aged loved ones at home alone. To choose a service from all that are available out there can be a tough task. Look for those that offer a live person who answers your call.
